China's Aiways has announced strategic changes and the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Hugo Zhu, to drive the company's further development and increased focus on its overseas business. The focus of Aiways will shift to non-Chinese markets with greater growth and profitability potential.
Zhu replaces Charlie Zhang as CEO.
One of his first tasks of the changes will be to give the company a leaner organisational structure.
Aiways says this aims to improve communication, decision-making and overall efficiency.
During these significant changes, the company's management will be supported by the company's founder Samuel Fu, to ensure continuity within the transition period.
He remains in his position as president of the company and will play a role in the daily operations.
With the Aiways U5 SUV, the company was the first Chinese startup to launch a battery-electric passenger car on the European market in 2020.
The Aiways European headquarters are located in Munich.
Dr Alexander Klose, Vice President Aiways Overseas Operations and Managing Director Aiways Automobile Europe GmbH, says: "Overall, we will be able to position the company for the necessary changes and improvements under the new leadership. The simplified structure, the solution of internal problems, the focus on the customer and the strengthening of research and development for the Overseas markets are strategic steps on the way to a more agile and successful organisation."
Aiways, a provider of individual mobility solutions from Shanghai, was founded in 2017.
