Daimler Truck has announced the launch of a line of electric trucks in the US market under the new brand name RIZON. These trucks are suited to a variety of applications such as dry vans, flatbeds, landscape dumps, and reefers.
The class 4 and 5 medium-duty battery-electric vehicles are able to run from 110 -160 miles (for L size variant with 3 battery packs) and 75 -110 miles (for M size variant with 2 battery packs) on a single charge.
RIZON trucks are capable of being charged by two types of battery charging systems, Level 2 AC Charging (J1772) and DC Fast Charging CCS1 compliant.
They will also incorporate advanced passive and active safety systems to help safeguard drivers, passengers, and the communities in which they operate.
The RIZON brand and its vehicle offerings will be presented to the public for the first time at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, from May 1-4, 2023 in Anaheim, California.
Starting Q4 2023, they will be distributed in the US through an exclusive agreement with Velocity, an established name in the commercial vehicle industry with around 80 global outlets.
In a press release, Daimler Trucks says: 'The mobility industry is changing rapidly as legislation and customer initiatives focus the spotlight on zero-emissions commercial transportation. Incentive funding and tax credits in certain markets are also helping to ease fleets’ switching costs. As this dynamic new marketplace develops, RIZON stands ready to assist customers in making their transition'.
Daimler Truck is one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, with over 40 production sites around the globe and more than 100,000 employees.
