Sweden's Einride, a freight mobility technology company, has announced its launch in Benelux together with the world's leading brewer, AB InBev. With Einride’s fully electric fleet of connected, heavy duty trucks the partnership is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 500 tonnes annually.
The first phase will kick off the full deployment of Einride’s ecosystem which includes its freight mobility platform, six connected electric Einride Trucks, and the development, installation, and building of the charging infrastructure.
The trucks will be deployed in the Leuven and Brussels areas and support the company’s ambition to achieve net zero across its supply chain by 2040.
Einride says the partnership with AB InBev in Belgium is just the beginning of Einride's expansion into the region, where it soon plans to make an even more significant contribution to redesigning the transport sector by adding more customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
It is the leading operator of heavy-duty electric transport in Sweden and the US, and recently announced launches in Germany and Norway.
Robert Falck, CEO and Founder of Einride, says: “Benelux is the beating heart of Europe and the place to drive change across the European Union. In the last ten years, the union has cut greenhouse gas emissions in every sector but transport, which has only increased, with road freight transport remaining by far the biggest emitter. It's high time to take action in order to achieve the target of halving emissions by 2030. With our industry leading technology that has been electric from the start we look forward to contributing to substantial emission reductions so that Europe can take the lead in the global race to net zero.”
"We only invest in non-diesel transport and are going for zero in our emissions. As we are starting the broad deployment of electric vehicles for city deliveries next year, the partnership with Einride for electric heavy duty transportation on the middle mile is the next step in our green logistics strategy. If the environment we operate in becomes greener, the ingredients for our beer will benefit," adds Philippe Seminck, Logistics Director Benelux and France, AB InBev.
