NIO Launches NIO ES8 in Norway And Opens The First NIO House in Europe

China’s NIO has launched its smart electric flagship SUV, NIO ES8, for sale in Norway, and hosted a launch event for NIO House Oslo, the first NIO House in Europe.
On 6 May 2021, NIO officially announced its market entry into Norway and shared its plans to establish a fully-fledged ecosystem in Norway, including electric vehicles, premium services, charging and swapping infrastructure, digital experiences, lifestyle products and an ambition of building up a user community in the country.
It has now revealed plans to set up a substantial Power Swap network and offer Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) to Norwegian users, and it has announced its authorised service partners in Norway.
The NIO ES8 Signature Edition is available for immediate delivery with a 100 kWh battery, equivalent to a WLTP range of up to 500 kilometres.
For delivery in July 2022, Norwegian users can now order both the NIO ES8 and NIO ES8 Signature Edition with a 75 kWh battery, equivalent to a WLTP range of up to 375 kilometres.
NIO Europe’s CEO, Alexander Schwarz, says: “Today marks a significant moment in the history of NIO. Today the very first European users have the opportunity to experience what it means to be part of the NIO community. Norway is our starting point of our journey in Europe and beyond. Our vision is clear: to provide our users with seamless and worry-free services as well as supreme and joyful user experiences. We will be their friend and partner on their personal journey to a brighter and more sustainable future. From our NIO Houses, such as the first one in Oslo, through to our battery swap stations, our worry-free Battery-as-a-Service subscription models and our convenient online services, being part of the NIO community will bring joy, friendship and meaningful interaction.”
Marius Hayler, general manager of NIO Norway, adds: “It has been a hectic 147 days, but we are delighted with the positive response we have received in Norway so far. Users, cooperation partners, authorities and media seem to acknowledge that we are attempting to build up a unique ecosystem and user enterprise here in Norway.”
He adds: “Norwegians love large SUVs with plenty of space, four-wheel drive and a solid battery range. We believe NIO ES8 ticks all the boxes for Norwegian users, and we are also delighted that we can offer a competitive price for such a large electric vehicle.”
NIO has established R&D centers and manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, Beijing, San Jose, Munich, London and five other places
