NIO’s First European Power Plant to Commence Operation in Hungary in September

NIO has announced that its NIO Power Europe Plant based in Hungary, with investment from NIO, will commence operation in September, 2022. With a footprint of around 10,000 square meters, NIO Power Europe Plant, as its first overseas plant, will serve as the manufacturing, service and R&D centre for its power products in Europe.
Its major business covers the manufacturing and after-sales service of battery swapping in Se stations, training for power operations in Europe, and the R&D of power products.
The announcement was made in Budapest, Hungary, by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Hui Zhang, Vice President of NIO Europe Office
In a press statement, NIO says: ‘Its launch will further enhance the deployment and service efficiency of NIO Power in Europe, bringing a better ownership experience for European users’.
NIO designs, develops, jointly manufactures and sells premium smart electric vehicles, driving innovations in next-generation technologies in autonomous driving, digital technologies, electric powertrains and batteries.
After entering the Norwegian car market, NIO will expand into Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark in the second half of 2022, with its products and comprehensive services.
NIO says: ‘The operations of NIO Power Europe Plant will add further momentum to the construction of NIO Power Swap Stations in these countries, laying a solid foundation for local battery swapping and charging services’.
Founded in November 2014, NIO launched the EC6, a five-seater premium smart electric coupe SUV, in December 2019, and began deliveries of the EC6 in September 2020.
The brand launched the ET7, a flagship premium smart electric sedan, in January 2021.
