UK Battery Startup Britishvolt Falls Into Administration, 300 Jobs to go

The UK EV battery startup, Britishvolt, has collapsed into administration. According to media reports, the majority of its 300 employees have been made redundant.
EY has been appointed as joint administrators.
Britishvolt's aim was to manufacture sustainable, low carbon battery cells at a proposed Gigafactory based in Northumberland, UK.
At full capacity, the plant was supposed to have produced enough battery cells for over 300,000 electric vehicle battery packs per year, intended primarily for the automotive industry.
The development was due to create around 3,000 direct highly-skilled jobs and another 5,000+ in the associated supply chains.
Orral Nadjari, Britishvolt's founder, stepped down in August, 2022.
The company had promised to deliver the first battery cells to customers in 2022, and had signed deals with Lotus and Aston Martin to design and build bespoke batteries for upcoming models.
