Unusual Afro-European Hydrogen-Powered SUV Revealed

NamX, an Afro-European industrial and tech company, unveiled a new hydrogen-powered SUV yesterday called the HUV.
Italian automotive design house (and nascent carmaker) Pininfarina designed the HUV which features a fixed fuel tank but can also be refuelled with six removable capsules, allowing for up to 800 km of driving.
However, the HUV isn’t the only iron NamX has in the fire. According to the company, the hydrogen-powered SUV is only one “part of a large-scale industrial and technological project whose ambition is to reconcile human mobility and environmental preservation thanks to green hydrogen.”

There are two versions of the HUV in the works, apparently. An entry-level rear-wheel-drive version packing 300 hp, capable of hitting a limited top speed of 200 kph and sprinting from 0-100 kph in 6.5 seconds.
An all-wheel-drive “GTH” version with 550 hp will be able to hit a limited top speed of 250 kph and hit 100 kph in 4.5 seconds.
The cars should go on sale in Q4 of 2025 with a price between €65,000 and €95,000 depending on the options buyers choose.
However, the company is perhaps more interesting than the car itself. NamX says it is an “African-European constellation of leading experts and partners” and it believes that “hydrogen will be at the core of a large Euromed equation.”
The HUV is expected to enter its development phase in 2023 and NamX is “considering the option of implanting its production plant in regions where the manufacturing ecosystem excellence and the environmental commitment to green hydrogen are both clearly stated.”

“Our double ambition is to become a new reference in the world of zero-emission cars, and to constantly explore new territories to facilitate mobility of our consumers. NAMX is a collective project built with the best industrial and technical partners in Europe and Africa,” said Faouzi Annajah, founder and President of NAMX.
The NamX HUV will be publically presented at the 2022 Paris Motor Show but, if you really cannot wait to jump on this intriguing hydrogen-powered Afro-European adventure, you can pre-order the HUV now from the NamX website.
