VanMoof Delays Production VanMoof V

Premium e-bike manufacturer VanMoof has announced that production of its first-ever electric hyperbike, the VanMoof V, will be delayed until late 2023. The company says it's adjusting the timeline due to global supply chain issues.

The Amsterdam-based company had originally expected to make its first deliveries of the e-bike by the end of 2022.

The V is designed for long commutes and to disrupt the high-speed e-bike category.

It will be capable of hitting speeds up to [50 kilometers][31 miles] per hour, with integrated speed settings to match country regulations.

An integrated handlebar phone mount will allow riders' phones to be incorporated as a screen and dashboard and provide an intuitive visual reference for updates from the V’s onboard computer.

VanMoof co-founder and CEO, Ties Carlier, explains. “The world looks very different today from when we announced the VanMoof V 12 months ago. We know the production delay of the VanMoof V will come as a disappointment to many, but it’s important to be realistic in our current economic climate. Our teams are working hard to keep to our adjusting timelines, and we can’t wait to see the V take to our streets as soon as possible."

He adds: “What many riders will be delighted to hear is that we have integrated new tech features originally designed for the VanMoof V into our latest e-bikes, the S5 & A5 – including automatic shifting, an entirely new drivetrain, phone mount, and USB-C charging.”

VanMoof says the first deliveries of its next generation of city e-bikes, the VanMoof S5 and A5 are on track for the end of this year, with test rides now available at VanMoof locations worldwide.
